Description
The former Partagas factory is the one structure in Havana that cigar enthusiasts are most excited about. It is located in the centre of the city at No. 520 Industria Street, directly behind the Capitol building.
Don Jaime Partagas opened the plant in 1845, and it remained in business until a few years ago. Plans to turn it into a cigar museum are already underway, and it is now shuttered. Nonetheless, the ground level Partagas store is still open and highly recommended. When the Maduro No. 1 was launched in 2015, it was a creative addition to the line, adorned with an extra band and wearing a unique dark (maduro) wrapper.
Maduro indicates a wrapper leaf that is extremely black in colour. Harvested from the top of the shade-grown tobacco plant, the leaves take on their rich, dark, oily appearance after air curing, natural fermentation, and ageing. This gives the blend a “top-taste,” which many people describe as sweet. For Habanos S.A., dedicating Maduro wrappers to a vitola is not a completely novel idea. They introduced the Cohiba Maduro 5 line in three sizes in 2007. Nevertheless, this is a first for Partagas, and the brand’s repertoire does not currently include the size. Details :
