Description
The former Partagas factory is the one structure in Havana that cigar enthusiasts are most excited about. It is located in the centre of the city at No. 520 Industria Street, directly behind the Capitol building.
Don Jaime Partagas opened the plant in 1845, and it remained in business until a few years ago. Plans to turn it into a cigar museum are already underway, and it is now shuttered. Nonetheless, the ground level Partagas store is still open and highly recommended.
In addition to being the only figurado among the three sizes in the Maduro line, this cigar is the shortest and widest. A strong, short cigar that’s perfect for sipping after a substantial dinner.
The Linea Maduro collection is completed by the Partagas Maduro No. 2, which joins the No. 1 and No. 3. Maduro indicates a wrapper leaf that is extremely black in colour. Harvested from the top of the shade-grown tobacco plant, the leaves take on their rich, dark, oily appearance after air curing, natural fermentation, and ageing. This gives the blend a “top-taste,” which many people describe as sweet you will get hints of chocolate, primary notes of coffee and leather become spicy with white pepper.
