The village of San Juan y Martinez, located in the centre of the Vuelta Abajo zone, is where Hoyo de Monterrey had its start. The town's main centre has a gate that reads, ""Hoyo de Monterrey. Jose Gener. 1960."" This gate leads to the Hoyo de Monterrey plantation, one of the great Vegas de Primera. A classy little cigar with a respectable 38 ring gauge that's ideal for smoking in the morning. Before the Montecristo Open J joined it in 2009, it was the sole cigar of this size in the Havana line for a long time. It has excellent fruity, peppery, and mineral colours.
