Description
The distillery’s flagship bottling, Lagavulin 16 Year Old, was released when Diageo debuted the Classic Malt series in the 1980s, replacing the original 12-year-old expression. A highly sought-after single malt Scotch whisky with the distinctive huge peat-smoke of southern Islay, but also rich and dry enough to make it a genuinely intriguing drink. The 16-year-old Lagavulin dram from the Lagavulin distillery has established itself as a standard Islay dram. Lagavulin’s 16-year-old is a benchmark malt from the south coast of Islay, a quintessential Scotch whisky. This has a great flavour that is related to Lapsang Souchong tea, albeit it may be more smoky than peaty.
