Romeo and Julieta was first performed as a Havana in 1875 and was named after the tragic lovers in William Shakespeare's plays. Under the leadership of Don "Pepin" Rodriguez, a gifted promoter who was one of the first to understand the cigar band's potency, the brand achieved worldwide renown in the early 1900s. In his prime, at least 20,000 distinct bands were employed in the cigar-making process. A mild, well-balanced pressed cigar, it is by far the most popular Romeo size, along with its round cousin, the No. 2 tubed. It's a beautiful little cigar with a rough, greasy wrapper.
